specializes in large format woodcuts and uses the contrast present in the technique to relate to her key theme: portraits of women and girls wielding firearms in everyday life. What she proposes is an investigation into such symbolism in society.
Also a set designer for operas and plays, Luisa Almeida mixes scenic resources in the conception of her work, giving birth to xylographic installations. Part of her research delves into alternative processes for printing giant prints, such as vehicles, forklifts, and compressor rollers. She is currently a Master’s student in Visual Arts at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), where she graduated in 2017.
is graduated in Graphic Design with emphasis in typography at Anhembi Morumbi University in São Paulo (2015). As a graphic designer, he worked at FAMA Museu (Fábrica de Arte Marcos Amaro), in Itu, and since 2019 he works at Kogan Amaro Gallery. His contact with painting begins in 2013, through incursions with graffiti in the city of São Paulo. Then, he begins to be guided in the light of the influences given by the relations between gestural painting and oriental calligraphy, or more precisely by the history of the expressionist abstract movement led by the New York School in the immediate post-war period. In the scope of his work, the convergence of cultures between East and West through the “path of writing” (translation for Shodô in Japanese) stands out, focusing on the contrast and juxtaposition of expressive gestures and calligraphy, in order to subvert and recode the characters of the alphabet and, thus, propose new aesthetic languages of communication.
In 2020, he begins the course Painting: Practice and Reflection, oriented by Paulo Pasta at the Tomie Ohtake Institute, in São Paulo, and the online course In the Studio: Postwar Abstract Painting, coordinated by Corey D’Augustine (MoMA, New York). In 2019, he completes the course Art Histories: Modern and Contemporary Art, taught by Daniel Jablonski at MASP (Museu de Arte de São Paulo). In the same year, he participates in the 21st Exhibition of MAC – PR (Art Museum of Cascavel, Paraná). In 2018, he teaches Urban Art Workshops at the European Institute of Design, in São Paulo. Produces a series of murals in the city and the south of Bahia with the artist Felipe Mei (Philaico) and starts attending the studio of the painter Arnaldo de Melo, with whom he performs works in partnership. In 2021, he begins to be represented by Kogan Amaro Gallery, in São Paulo.
