Lives and works in São Paulo

Eduardo Srur went to Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP), where he had classes with artist Nelson Leirner and photographer Eduardo Brandão.

In the early 2000s, he started his exploration and use of public space to develop installations from new materials and a wide range of visual languages, paving the way for the experimental creation of urban interventions. In São Paulo, he’s enhanced his entrepreneurial facet and conducted several large-scale urban interventions within the city landscape, appropriating bridges and overpasses, polluted rivers and dams, public parks and vacant lots.

His works use the public space to raise awareness to environmental and metropolitan daily life issues, always aiming to broaden the presence of art within the community and bring it closer to people’s lives. Some actions promote social activities with children and walk-in visitors through workshops that share the artist’s creative process beyond academia for thousands of people.
