Montanha das nuvens brancas

Kimi Nii

Light and nature are what give form to her sculptures. Her desire is not to imitate nature but to look at things from both sides of the world. To mix the Brazilian thing that is in front of her with the Japanese thing which she brought with her in her baggage filled of memories, which she explains with such simple words to describe what she creates today with freedom and exuberance. This is also key to her narrative, which prompts us to create mental landscapes – those suggested and that force us into a sensible exercise, that of spatial awareness, that when combined with Kimi Nii’s sculptures that are spread across the gallery, make us conceive a mental landscape.

A concha, a espada, o corte e o amor

Katia Salvany

In the open groove created by a gouge held by Katia Salvany, runs a blue river. It molds dresses, shells and drawers. It runs through the strands of hair and the expressions on the female faces that pay close attention to the viewer. At the same time as it draws, the slit connects the supports showcased in The Shell, the Sword, the Cut and the Love (A Concha, Espada, Corte e Amor), the artist’s first exhibition at the Kogan Amaro Gallery.

A verdade está em tudo, mesmo no erro

Fabiano Rodrigues

Meide in Brazil

Nunca

Stroke by stroke, in a constant cyclic motion, like the sound of a drum that with each beat, gains more strength and body. Up close, the furrows remain parallel, like furrows carved into canvases and walls. When viewed in perspective, they form expressions, scars, delimit the space and configure the vast creative universe that is the artist Francisco Rodrigues da Silva, better known by his pseudonym Nunca (meaning never). The 36-year-old São Paulo native is one of the most prominent names in the national and international graffiti scene and owns an extremely recognizable style that has already made disciples on the streets and on canvas. After dozens of exhibitions at institutions around the world, he opens “Meide in Brazil”, his first solo show on Brazilian soil.
