Mirela Cabral is an artist born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1992. She lives and works in São Paulo (SP), where she graduated in Media Studies with a major in Filmmaking at Fundação Álvares Penteado/FAAP. She researches both abstract and figurative expressions, focusing on ordinary depictions as well as images from her own memory and from observational sketches drawn on her diaries. Mirela interacts, bends and defies strokes, shapes and textures that range from painting to drawing and to embroidery as her media of choice.

“NKENDA afroindígena”, presented by Afro-Indigenous artist from Brasilia Josafá Neves on ground floor, is the solo exhibition that expresses an ethnic symbolism and deep social philosophic research through the paintings of the Indigenous archetypes that make part of the language and spirituality of the native Brazilians.

The Löwenbräu location of Galeria KOGAN AMARO is featuring a solo show called “Flash of Desire” by Antonio Hélio Cabral – Brazilian painter, drawer, engraver and sculptor of a consolidated career, holder of Cultural Merit Award granted by the Ministry of Culture of Brazil, an artist whose works participated in various Biennials and exhibitions internationally, and are present in major institutional collections in Brazil, such as Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo and Museum of Lasar Segall, Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo and Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul, Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende in Santiago, Chile and Unasul – United Nations of South Americas in Quito, Equador. Philosopher, writer and thinker, Cabral is showing these series of drawings, paintings, lithographs, and poems for the first time in Switzerland.

“Field connotes a body or a realm, and ephemeral means a fleeting, transitory or a brief moment in time”, explains abstract painter Daniel Mullen, known for his play with geometrical optical illusion, spatial perspective and light, to refer to the multiple horizons in his present paintings. The body of work for the solo exhibition “Ephemeral Fields” by the Glasgow-born artist stems from the question “in what way might we imagine a future monument or the idea of a monument”.

Pour the Sun on My Tongue is an important milestone in the recent and intense artistic journey of Rafaella Braga. It is her first solo Exhibition, presenting works developed between 2019 and 2021 in her studio based in’ Berlin, where she has been residing since 2018, including also a site specific installation in the Gallery Kogan Amaro in Zurich.

In the 1949 anti-epic poem “A máquina do mundo” [The Machine of the World] by Carlos Drummond de Andrade (*), the renowned Brazilian poet reveals the mechanism of the world while the individual remains an enigma. Like Drummond, the installation Peso-contrapeso [Weight-Counterweight] by São Paulo-born conceptual artist Marcia Pastore thrives in the Hellenic and Renaissance theory that the world is a machine. Weight-Counterweight lays bare a complex and perplexing mechanism created to perform an overwhelming play of tension by drawing lines with steel cables in the void architectural space, which is one of Pastore’s recurring issues along with experiments in civil engineering.
